RE-CREATE OUR HEART, DEAR LORD!

As Christians, who are we? Are we slave or are we free?
If we’re bound, it is to God, to abide in Christ and He in me
We’re taught to love and serve, humble is our lot
But arrogance possessed us and we conveniently forgot.

We have been commanded by Jesus to spread God’s Holy Word
Not just around the vicinity, but to the ends of the earth
But do we heed our God’s command? No, not we..
We live in shameful denial and have been doing so since birth.

Woe to us! As Christ said, we’re hypocrites and fools
Wisdom eludes us as we cling to wicked ways, deeming them cool
Hellbent on destruction of the environment and all within its hold
We race against time, attempting to turn everything we touch to gold.

Let us validate our claim as children of the Most High
By our actions, keeping them pure, and freeing our hearts from every lie
We are called to be Christ’s beacons, to shine in the darkest night
But our love for worldly ways has extinguished our holy light.

Can we recapture our first love, living the ways of our Lord?
Can we lay down our pride and selfish, worldly accord?
Let us repent and turn back, ere we’re lost, and it’s too late.
May God, with love and mercy, our hearts re-create.
