INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY POEM – March 8
WOMAN UNDAUNTED
Woman was created out of the rib of man
That’s what we are given to understand
And thus got started male domination
On woman was thrust an inferior station.
Walking in man’s shadow thro’ the ages
Subjected to man’s unexplained rages
Fumbling in vain for her own identity
While fighting to preserve her chastity!
Forced on a pedestal for devious aims
Of men, and believing in their claims
That to serve them humbly she was born
Thus her individuality to shreds was torn.
But God had courage to woman endowed
And though she was bent she never cowed
Down to demands of the arrogant male,
She was staunch, despite her looking frail.
Upholding her cause she forged ahead
Pitting her wits and pitching in her tread
Shoulder to shoulder with her male counterpart
She strode strongly on with determined heart.
Spearheading the movement of women’s right
Into man’s world she plunged her fight
Crossing the threshold, entering every field
Man had to move over, man had to yield!
Now be it home, hearth or the corporate world
Man is firmly round her fingertips twirled
Subdued femininity you will find no more
As universe pays homage at woman’s door!
